There will be a Minute’s Silence ahead of kick-off this evening at Welford Road as this is the closest fixture to Remembrance Sunday.
The players of Leicester Tigers and the Ospreys will line up on the pitch just ahead of kick-off to join the Minute’s Silence in respect of those who lost their lives in armed conflict and supporters are asked to make your way to your places in good time.
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal will also be in the stadium this evening. Please show your support with a donation.
At half-time the club is participating in a BBC Radio Leicester project collecting material for a series called ‘World War One At Home’.
The club’s official historian Stuart Farmer researched the names of more than a complete team of Tigers players who lost their lives in active service during World War One and this will be the subject of one of the special features in that series.
The programme will be broadcast by BBC Radio Leicester and used by BBC Online as part of the centenary commemorations and will be archived in the Imperial War Museum.
Supporters can play a part at half-time when BBC Radio Leicester presenter Martin Ballard will announce the names of those Leicester Tigers players who lost their lives during World War One and ask you to pay tribute with a Welford Road round of applause.
A club spokesman said: “Leicester Tigers has a long association with the Forces, going back to the club’s earliest years. This evening we have the opportunity for the club and its supporters to join the tributes to those who have lost their lives and especially to the players who were killed during the First World War.”
