Women's International Round-Up: W/E October 20

This weekend saw the launch of the first-ever WXV 1 competition and the continuation of WXV 2 & 3, with Tigers represented by nine players across four sides in WXV 1 & 2. 

In the opening game of the weekend, Meg Jones started at outside-centre and scored in England's 42 - 7 victory over Australia.

Jones, who turns 27 today, marked her return to competitive International fifteens action with a stellar all-round midfield performance for the Red Roses, capped off by a try that saw her readjust an angled line to shoot through the Wallaroos defence, hitting a step on the covering defender and dive over for the score.

In WXV 2 action, the highly anticipated matchup between Scotland and the USA certainly delivered, with seven Tigers involved as Scotland ran out 24-14 winners.

Francesca McGhie opened the scoring for the Scots, the wing receiving the ball in space over thirty metres out before deftly weaving inside then out to go round the covering fullback, a thrilling score to start the match. Leah Bartlett also was influential throughout, the prop imperious in a 70 minute performance.

On the USA side, Tahlia Brody and Tess Feury started the match and played the full 80 minutes, Feury showing her versatility by slotting a conversion to take the Eagles to within two scores late on.

Amongst the replacements, young prop Keia Mae Sagapolu staked her claim for a starting place by playing the full second half whilst, on the Scotland side, Elis Martin and Eva Donaldson both helped see out the game coming on in the final minutes.

Finally, South African Catha Jacobs played the full eighty minutes at openside flanker as the Springboks fell to Italy by a score of 36-18, having been reduced to 14 players with half an hour left in the match.
