Headteacher Danny Bullock says his Inglehurst Primary School pupils are thrilled to be running out at Twickenham as part of the MBNA Tackling Numbers programme.

Inglehurst has been chosen to represent Leicester Tigers at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final at HQ on Saturday.

They will highlight how rugby has helped them in and out of the classroom when they take part in a tag rugby demonstration on the pitch ahead of kick-off. Inglehurst is one of 14 schools from across the country taking part.

Bullock, headteacher at the Leicester city school, said: “We have got 10 children and two teachers going down to the final.

“They are all really excited and their parents are excited as well. They are really chuffed that their children are getting this opportunity.

“Every year we take part in the MBNA Tackling Numbers programme, which is fantastic. We are involved in quite a lot of the Tigers programmes, such as Healthy Schools, and it is great to get this opportunity.”

Tackling Numbers is an interactive numeracy programme for young children, developed and delivered by Premiership Rugby in partnership with MBNA. The five week programme aims to teach eight and nine-year-olds the importance of number skills in everyday life.

The Rugby-themed programme is delivered in schools by Tigers through classroom sessions and practical number-based rugby games. It aims to make learning about numbers fun, exciting and rewarding. It will inspire children to improve their numeracy skills and their physical health.
