In October 2023, Leicester Tigers launched their first-ever Down syndrome rugby team, enjoying a hugely successful first year.
The sessions are non-contact tag rugby so those with Down Syndrome can learn the basics of rugby, whilst making friends in a safe and fun environment. The sessions are open to all ages.
The club have also collaborated with ‘Stand Out Socks’, to sell striped socks that help raise additional funds alongside with those provided by the Leicester Tigers Foundation and programme sponsors Dyno-Rod.
100% of proceeds from sales go toward the Leicester Tigers Downs syndrome rugby programme. The socks are available in the Leicester Tigers Club shop, both in store and online.
How can you get involved?
Sessions take place every other weekend at the club’s Oval Park training ground and will run from 11.30am – 12.30pm. These are now finished for the 23/24 season.
Sessions will restart again in 24/25, with the first session of the new season currently TBC. Please check back here and on the Leicester Tigers social channels for any updates.
