One of the stars of Leicester teams in the early 20th Century, Frank ‘Sos’ Taylor played in 276 games which spanned the First World War years.
A lock or back row, he played in the first England-Wales schools international in 1904 alongside five other players from Leicester and made his Tigers debut in 1911, going on to play in the Midland Cup wins in the two years preceding the outbreak of war and represent Leicestershire and Midland Counties.
Although badly wounded during service with the Leicestershire Regiment, Taylor recovered sufficiently to reclaim his place in the Tigers pack and gained two England caps in 1920.
