Why I play wheelchair rugby?
For most of my life my main sport was fencing. As an individual sport it fitted in with doing shift work as a nurse. I have represented the county at competition. I was involved with running the fencing league for Leicestershire for a few years, as well as being treasurer. When my illness started I was unable to continue with fencing and work.
Wheelchair rugby is a sport that I have followed for a number of years. When I was retired due from the NHS it coincided with the club starting in Leicester. I joined to get some exercise. I'm not very good but am enthusiastic. When physically unable to play can help out with scoring and timings.
Background/ other interests outside of sport:
Enjoy going to theatre and watching films. As well as receiving treatment at the Leicestershire MS Therapy centre, I help with fundraising for them. I also volunteer at a nursing home doing the finger nails of the residents.
I enjoy food. Mostly eating out or friends cooking.
Favourite Sporting Moment:
Too many different sports each with individual highlights but watching the Leicestershire Foxes win their third T20 was great.
Proudest Sporting Moment:
Winning u12 southwest fencing competition having only just taken up the sport. (Beginners luck)
