Sunday, October 15 saw another successful edition of the Defender Premiership Rugby Cup.

The event saw a range of appearances from Leicester Tigers players and coaches, including Head Coach Dan McKellar and players Matt Scott and Charlie Clare.

Vital in fostering the values at the heart of the game, the Defender Premiership Rugby Cup is a key part of the grassroots rugby calendar each season that allows Defender to connect with the rugby community and the people at the heart of it. The events are designed to provide aspiring young players with the chance to play competitive fixtures in a format to aid their development, all within the spirit of rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Following the event's conclusion, Community Manager Dan Hemingway said "Well done to all the teams who attended. The players, coaches and supporters all played their part in a fantastic day of grassroots rugby.

"The Defender Premiership Cup continues to epitomise everything that is brilliant about our sport with over 650 kids taking part across 36 teams, travelling in from all corners of the Tigers Community regions."

A big congratulations should also go to the two teams who will now receive tickets from Premiership Rugby to attend the Gallagher Premiership Final on Saturday, June 8, courtesy of Defender.

From the Under-11's, Oadby Wyggstonians were drawn from the hat by McKellar, and in the Under-12's the waterfall tournament was won by Woodbridge RFC.
