As part of Leicester Tigers' work with Project Rugby and within our own Tigers+ programmes, the club recently delivered our first collection of secondary school festivals of the season at Leicester Forest Rugby Club.
On November 7 and November 9, the Community team supported the festival of rugby, with a total of 34 schools, 52 teams and a huge 652 players involved, all getting stuck in and trying out our great sport.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Premiership sponsors Gallagher who provided volunteers to support the festivals as part of the Project Rugby initiative.
It aims to change existing perceptions of the game, ensuring that rugby is a sport for anyone regardless of background, ethnicity or ability and championing the core values. Engage and transition new participants from accessible rugby activities onto regular rugby participation.
The Tigers Community team, meanwhile, demonstrate a continued commitment to growing the game of rugby in schools across Leicestershire and the Tigers Community regions and further Secondary School festivals are scheduled throughout the year for boys and girls of all abilities.
