Tigers chief scout and club legend Dusty Hare admitted the nerves were jangling by the end of the U18 League Grand Final on Sunday.
“At the age I am now, I still got them! It’s fantastic,” he told LTTV on the Allianz Park pitch immediately after the match.
“It was a great performance by the boys today. That’s what a final is all about, and fantastic with Gloucester coming back and making it a tremendous game.
“We played rugby in the right areas in that first half and it was very enjoyable. Not quite so much in the second half!”
The Tigers Academy side led 24-0 at the break before a second-half comeback from Gloucester left the final score at 34-31.
Hare continued: “We all like to see the attacking play, but the defence today was outstanding again, and that helped us win the game. Sam Costelow’s goal kicking was exceptional.
“Somebody has got to lose in the final, but Gloucester had a good game today and I’m just glad our boys won.”
