Leicester Tigers fans will have the chance to say a huge thank you to Tom Croft ahead of kick-off in the Champions Cup game with Munster Rugby.
Croft announced his retirement last month on medical grounds. A Tigers academy graduate, Croft made 173 first-team appearances and scored 27 tries. He won 40 England caps and played in five Tests on two tours with the British & Irish Lions.
A hugely popular figure with teammates and supporters, Croft will be presented to the crowd ahead of kick-off at Welford Road on Sunday.
Chief executive Simon Cohen, speaking in his notes in this weekend’s matchday programme, said: “A successful squad is always built around a group of players who are all friends, have grown up together and care passionately about the team.
“Tom has always been a crucial part of this core and his good nature and balance have been a big part of what has been a very good group dynamic throughout his time at Tigers.”
Fans are being encouraged to get to their places in the stadium in good time to show their appreciation for his service to the club.
And look out for a tribute video in the minutes before kick-off as Croft takes to the pitch to acknowledge supporters.
Fans can read many of the tributes that have been paid to Croft by searching for the hashtag #ThanksCrofty on social media. And supporters are encouraged to post their messages for Croft using #ThanksCrofty.
