Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby meet at Mattioli Woods Welford Road next Saturday (February 26) in the latest chapter of a 130-year-old rivalry.
The two clubs have met on more than 200 occasions since the late 19th Century, with the encounters at Welford Road dating right back to Tigers’ first season at the venue in 1892.
Both teams – and their large support – have also been a constant in the top flight since the advent of league rugby, with previous meetings also including finals of the Premiership and the Knockout Cup.
The most recent meeting on Tigers turf, at the start of last season, also marked the 2,500th first-team fixture at the club’s iconic home.
Next Saturday’s game kicks off a rugby double at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, with full coverage of England against Wales on the big screen in Final Whistle to follow.
This facility is also scheduled for the England versus Ireland game on Saturday March 12 when Tigers also host London Irish.
