The new stadium store at Welford Road is open for business.

Leicester Tigers legend Martin Corry cut the ribbon to officially open the new store on Thursday morning.

Fans queued from 9am to be among the first through the doors and buy the new Tigers kit, which is now available to buy, and were entertained by Capital FM’s drive time presenters Dino and Pete.

The supporters included Matt Lane, 30, of Braunstone Town, who was at the front of the queue with his fiancée Jo Boyce.

Matt, who was buying Jo the new shirt for her birthday on Sunday, said: “The shop is fantastic. It is bigger, better and there is so much more in terms of the range of items.”

Former Tigers and England captain Corry, who signed items and posed for photographs, was joined by supporter Sam Stewart-Keene at the store opening. Sam, a Tigers fan since he was 14, won a competition with the Leicester Mercury to cut the ribbon.

“The shop is a lot bigger than the old one,” said Sam. “There is a good atmosphere and it really looks the part.

“I really like the new Tigers shirt. It is nice that it is staying with the classic design.”

Corry added: "The first time I saw the new shop I was blown away by it. The shop has been through a few revamps since I was first here and this shows just where the club is going."

The new Tigers store at Welford Road offers a retail experience bigger than any other rugby club in the country.

It has doubled in size to 2,000 square feet and features new and exclusive product ranges, with improved ordering services and an innovative multi-channel shopping experience, allowing supporters to order items in-store for delivery anywhere in the world.

A full range of playing-quality shirts and replica home shirts are available for supporters to purchase now.

Fans can also place their orders via the new online store which is now up and running.

Supporters will also see a transformation of the online store which will offer improved ordering and delivery options, enabling them to purchase online and collect in store.

The redevelopment is part of Tigers’ 10-year multi-million pound deal with sports retail specialist Kitbag, Tigers’ official retails partner.
