Ben Youngs speaks to LTTV following the loss to Bristol Bears at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
The Leicester Tigers scrum-half admitted he and his team mates were "schooled in the transition part of the game" by the ruthless Bears who finished with a 30-point, 54-24, margin over the home side.
"Any turnovers they are so clinical, ruthless," said Youngs.
"We actually had a lot of phases and built some nice pressure although the scoreline wouldn’t suggest that but every time we coughed over the ball they were outstanding. That is what they do, you blink and they score."
Youngs also believes the Tigers weren't strong enough in contact, adding: "We were just too soft in the contact area; their post contact metres then leads to offloads and once they get behind you we were not able to deal with that."
More than 20,000 fans had a ticket for the final home outing of 2024 and Youngs said it was "frustrating" to have not delivered a result for all those in attendance at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
"Incredibly frustrating ... a great crowd today but that is a tough one to take. I really had a good feeling about today but not to be. We got hosed," a blunt Youngs said.
While the game ended in defeat, a try after the 80th minute for Tigers means they did take a competition point away from the match of which Youngs said was one of the positives for him and his Leicester clubmates.
"There are positives ... but you train all week to go out and get beat like that, your initial reaction is always that it hurts. But we look at ourselves, we have those tough conversations and we build ourselves back up to the big game against ‘Quins," he said.
"We got a point out the game and it didn’t look like we were going to get that so you have to take it. It’s a tough one at home, probably as tough as I can remember for a very long time. They taught us some lessons in the transition part of the game."
While there will be a day off mid-week for Christmas, the season continues in the Gallagher Premiership next week and Tigers travel south to Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, to take on Harlequins in a double-header for the men's and women's squads.
Speaking about the reaction the side need, Youngs said: "You come in on Monday and you either sulk or you take the learnings from it and you build towards Quins and that’s what we’ll do."
The scrum-half also spoke more about what the fans mean to he and his team mates, as well as sharing his thoughts on the 150th milestone appearance for Joe Heyes.
