Aviva Premiership Rugby has recorded a significant rise in attendances this season.
Premiership Rugby can confirm that crowds rose by an impressive 3.1 per cent, with an average attendance of 12,252 – up from 11,889 compared in the 2012-13 season.
A total of 1,617,278 supporters attended fixtures during the 22 rounds of the regular league season, up from 1,569,298 last year.
"In challenging economic times, this is a remarkable result for the clubs in the Aviva Premiership," said Dominic Hayes, commercial director at Premiership Rugby.
"Most people would agree this Aviva Premiership Rugby season has been one of the most exciting to date with more than 500 tries and the average winning margin still the lowest in the world game.
"Our clubs have made a huge effort to build their supporter base, not only by creating showpiece events to bring new fans to the game, but also by working hard to enhance the matchday experience at games.
“It is clear from these figures that supporters have voted with their feet, it's a great achievement and we're looking forward to a compelling set of Aviva Premiership Rugby semi-finals this weekend."
