Julián Montoya pointed towards a need to improve converting opportunities when he spoke following the defeat to Northampton Saints at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
The Leicester Tigers hooker admitted he would need to watch back the match in full but believes that's where improvement would be required.
"We spent a lot of time in their half and didn't score enough, as we should," said Montoya.
"I will have to watch the game back to better see what needs to be better but right now, straight after the game, I think that is what we need to improve."
In typical East Midlands Derby fashion, there was plenty of action on and off the ball in the middle of Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
Montoya, when asked about the side's discipline and "niggle" between the rivals, admitted he didn't know the meaning but enjoyed the physical nature of the derby fixture.
"We need to be better in terms of our discipline in not giving away penalties," he said.
"But in terms of any niggle, I don't really know what that word means. Yes, there was a little bit of scrap and bit of this and that but it is a part of the game.
"After the game you shake hands and all is good. That is rugby."
Speaking about the passion of his teammates on show and pride in the club, he added: "Everybody has a responsibility when they put on this shirt and go out to represent Leicester Tigers."
"You are never playing for yourself, you are a part of something much bigger than you.
"It is about doing all you can for the team, for the club and I feel that way. This club has treated me so well and I will keep giving my best to this club, this team and all supporters."
The side will have a 21-day period between games and Montoya admitted the frustration might be furthered by the lack of a game to focus on immediately.
"I love playing and love playing for this team," he said.
"We will feel more frustrated, yes, with no game for the next few weeks after this loss. But we will go away and improve, then come back and look to be better and get better results."
