Hanro Liebenberg believes there was plenty to take away from the side's hard-fought, 14-18, away win over Sale Sharks in Round 2 of this season's Premiership Rugby Cup.
Speaking after the match, a pleased Liebenberg - who skippered the side at Salford Stadium - admitted it wasn't perfect but steps in the right direction for a side still getting to know each other were there to be seen.
"It was good to get the win, it's always good to get a victory," he said.
"We came here wanting to make progress on what we have worked on in the pre-season and last week's win, which I think we did, against a good Sale side at their home ground.
"It's never easy to come here and win, for anybody, and we haven't been able to do that for more than five years."
Almost a third of the Leicester side named had featured in just single-digit games for the club before Friday night's fixture, including several in just their second outing and one - Josh Bassett - on debut.
Liebenberg, the second most experienced in the line-up with 85 appearances, believes the opportunity to get time together on the pitch during the Cup will prove invaluable.
"It is a bit of a weird period with ten or so guys away at the World Cup or injured and so, for us, we want to be playing together and giving everyone a chance to get to know each other on the pitch," said Liebenberg.
"We need to keep building the relationships and trust which tonight is another chance to do."
Bassett's try on debut made him the third of the summer signings to cross the chalk this season, in two games, after Ollie Hassell-Collins and Jamie Shillcock got over in their first outings last weekend.
Hassell-Collins added a second tonight to make it two from two for the international wing.
Meanwhile, Liebenberg's fellow countryman Handré Pollard came on in the 51st minute for his first appearance of the campaign and played a part in both Tigers tries as well as adding an important sideline conversion.
