Former Tiger taking on Ride Against Time

Former Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby player Billy Twelvetrees is taking on a 350-mile cycle challenge in 24 hours in the name of team mate and friend Ed Slater.

Slater, another fellow Leicester and Gloucester player, is fighting Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and - since his diagnosis in 2022 - has shared his battle with the world, while trying to raise funds in a bid to help the search for a cure.

He established 4Ed after he was diagnosed, which also saw the creation of The Slater Cup which is now contested in all league fixtures between Tigers and Gloucester. Additionally, 4Ed has raised funds through various charity efforts and challenges like Billy's, which has been dubbed the Ride Against Time.

On Monday, August 19, he will cycle from Kingsholm Stadium to Mattioli Woods Welford Road, then on to Twickenham via Milton Keynes RFC, and back to Kingsholm Stadium - within 24 hours.

Why take on the mammoth task in only one day? Because the urgency to find a cure for those living with MND is, like the challenge, a race against time.

Billy will be leaving Kingsholm Stadium Fan Zone at 8am on Monday returning 24 hours later. Supporters are encouraged to be there for his departure from Kingsholm Stadium and his arrival at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, which is anticipated to be at 2.30pm on Monday.

All funds raised from the Ride Against Time will be split between 4Ed, the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and Matt Hampson's Get Busy Living Centre.
