Solomone Kata has been included in Tonga's squad ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. 

Prior to the final squad being announced, the abrasive, versatile back was involved in the side's Pacific Nations Cup matches against the likes of Samoa as well as in the side's additional warm-up matches, a pair of victories over Canada.

The tournament, due to kick-off in three weeks at Paris' Stade de France, will see the ʻIkale Tahi play their opening match of the tournament against the world ranked number one team, Ireland, on Saturday, September 16.  

Following this, in what is largely considered the 'group of death', Tonga will play Scotland (September 24), South Africa (October 1) and Romania (October 8).
