Tigers coaches and players have been working with young players at Loughborough Grammar School and Market Bosworth RFC.
Former Tigers captain and coach Ian “Dosser” Smith led the course at Loughborough Grammar School, taking the players through all aspects of their game including passing, kicking and defence.
He was joined by Tigers and England Under-20s scrum-half Sam Harrison, who took part in a question and answer session and signed autographs before joining the players in their drills.
Harrison, who took part in a Tigers Rugby Course when he was a young player, said: “Tigers Rugby Courses give you a real insight into everyday life and the training regime of professional rugby players at Leicester Tigers.
“It is an unbelievable experience and to have someone like Dosser giving them day-to-day feedback is priceless.
“The players were asking me about everything from what I eat and how long we train for to what I do in my spare time.”
Former Tigers hooker Troy Thacker led the course at Bosworth RFC and he was joined by Tigers wing Lee Robinson.
“The standard of the coaching on the course, led by Troy Thacker, is excellent and there is a lot of talent in the area,” Robinson said. “The players were asking what it takes to be a professional player, nutrition and who my role models were when I was younger. It went really well and they were really keen.”
Tigers Rugby Courses are supported by energy efficiency specialists Mark Group. Players receive a free ticket to a first-team game at Welford Road, plus a Tigers Rugby Course T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle.
Booking are being taken now on Rugby Courses throughout the year. The next courses will be held during the spring half-term (May 31 to June 3) at Melton RFC, Newark RFC and Kenilworth RFC.
