Tigers shirts boost Poppy Appeal

Leicester Tigers will show their support for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal by incorporating a poppy into the players' shirt design for Friday's match against Harlequins.

The one-off shirts feature a red poppy on the right shoulder and they will be signed and donated to the Royal British Legion after the LV= Cup tie at Welford Road to be auctioned as a fund-raiser for the annual Poppy Appeal.

Supporters can also pick up poppies in return for a donation at Friday’s game and the Royal British Legion are making use of group ticket sales initiatives to boost the Poppy Appeal fund.

Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “The club has very long-standing links with the Armed Forces and we were very keen to incorporate our support for the Poppy Appeal into the shirt for Friday’s match.

“I’m sure the shirts will prove popular souvenirs for supporters after the game and the auction should allow the Royal British Legion to make a significant sum to help this year’s appeal.”

Jennifer Leach, Royal British Legion community fundraiser, said: " We are so pleased to be working with Tigers this year.

The money raised from Friday’s match will go a long way to helping serving and ex-service personnel in Leicestershire.

“The Legion work closely with Leicestershire’s sporting clubs and we are thrilled to be able to incorporate Tigers into our fundraising activities.

“We hope that Tigers fans will give generously and join with us in remembering all who have given so dearly through past and current conflicts.”
