Tudor Thomas joined the elite group of Leicester Tigers Life Members during a presentation at Saturday's Guinness Premiership match against London Irish.

Following a decision by the club’s Board of directors, Tudor was honoured for his tireless work for the club over a 45-year period since his arrival in the county from his native Wales.

Making the presentation alongside chairman Peter Tom, chief executive Peter Wheeler said: “Tudor joined Tigers as team secretary of the Extras and had 20 years as secretary of the first team before becoming Honorary Secretary in 1995. He served as President from 1994-96 and was also chairman of the Leicester Football Club Members Association.

“Today he joins only six other men who have been made Honorary Life Members of the club in the last 50 years.”

Thomas, a former teacher who was also well known to supporters as the Tigers public address announcer on matchdays, thanked the directors and, in a short speech on the pitch at half-time in Saturday’s win over the Exiles, also saluted “all of the players and supporters” he had known in his time with the club.
