Young players from eight youth rugby clubs followed in the footsteps of Tigers legends playing at Welford Road following Tigers 19-14 Gallagher Premiership win over Wasps.
They had the opportunity to play at the iconic stadium in front of family and supporters, and also had a team photograph taken on the famous turf.
The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, is enjoying its 25th season with more than 70 teams entering through festivals staged in Norfolk, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
Crusaders Market Rasen & Louth, Newark, Old Laurentians, Old Newtonians, Silhillians, Sutton Coldfield and Wymondham took part in the third Welford Road Prima Tiger Cup festival of the season.
Scott Lydon, coach at Old Newtonians, said: “This is our first year with a junior section so to be here and playing at Welford Road is brilliant, for the club and for the kids playing.
“It has been an emotional day, but I think me and the coaches were more nervous than the kids to be honest.
“It’s their dream. I never got a chance to play here and I know a lot of them are season ticket holders here and for them to be able to play under the lights after watching their idols, in front of all these people, it’s great.
“It’s the best sport in the world so why not celebrate it at an event like this. It’s incredible.”
Silhillians RFC from Solihull and Old Newtonians from Leicester were selected to return for the Prima Tiger Cup Celebration Day on Saturday, March 27 ahead of Tigers Gallagher Premiership match against Bristol Bears.
