The threads of our past, woven into our future
The Leicester Tigers home & change kits for 2023/24 are based on the classic kits of times gone by, reflected through the return to the heritage green but given a futuristic twist, with a striking, eye-catching geometric Tiger and a glitch effect on the vintage red and white stripes. The change kit, meanwhile takes fans all the way back to the first ever Leicester Tigers jersey, a strong black and white colour scheme that features the clubs heritage crest in the background of the shirt.
The home jersey represents a return to the lighter, 'heritage' green of times gone by, allowing fans to reminisce about John Player Cup triumphs and a burgeoning dominance in the Premiership. But the colour also represents the future of this club, its inherent brightness a reflection of a robust core of young players, with Tigers DNA running through them, who look to help carry the club through the next generation.
The colour has been rarely seen for over 20 years, only appearing on the jerseys worn by the Tigers Academy, in order to ensure that those legends of the club who have laid the groundwork for the next generation to succeed are acknowledged. With Academy graduates such as Joe Heyes George Martin, Freddie Steward, Jack van Poortvliet and James Whitcombe having donned the heritage green in their formative years at Leicester, a time that included an unbeaten youth season. They are as excited about the return to the 'classic colours' as anyone.
The geometric Tiger pattern and the 'glitch' like stripes combine the historical nature with a more cyberpunk future, creating a fusion of the values that created the success of times past and a club hurtling toward an incredibly excited future, with a brand-new coaching team, a brilliant young core mixed with established international superstars and a women's team on the brink of a first ever season in Premiership Rugby.
The change kit, meanwhile, reverts back to a vintage Leicester Tigers colour scheme, the black and white famously Tigers' first ever design shirt from the team's formation and establishment as the 'Death or Glory boys'. Another shirt that pays homage to those who have laid the groundwork for the Leicester Tigers of today, the subtle detailing of the club's heritage crest adds a further depth to this year's focus on the threads of our past.
A darker, more understated alternative to the home kit's striking colour and features, the change kit offers fans a real choice as to how they want to represent Leicester Tigers from the stands of Mattioli Woods Welford Road and beyond ahead of an exhilarating 2023/24 season. A past to be proud of and a future to be excited by.
