Leicester Tigers have continued their tag rugby initiative in partnership with global insurance broking & risk management firm and Premiership Rugby title partner, Gallagher.
Since September 2023, the Tigers Community team have successfully delivered 84 sessions that included over 2,428 participants all getting the chance to give rugby a try.
On Friday, November 10 the team delivered a Tag Rugby Festival and invited schools to partake. Eight schools attended the festival with 15 teams enjoying an afternoon of tag rugby and being gifted a Gallagher T-shirt
The programme has been using tag rugby in order to:
- Support primary education and grassroots rugby clubs
- Enhance young people’s mental and physical well-being
- Grow the game of rugby
- Give children between the ages of 7 and 11 the opportunity to develop lifelong memories through rugby
Schools that we have worked with so far include:
- Stokes Wood
- Braunstone Frith
- Inglehurst Junior School
- All Saints C of E
- Mellor
- St Patricks Voluntary Academy
- Sandfield Close Primary
- Linden Primary, Shenton Primary
- Woodcote Primary
- Foxton Primary
