The guest coaches for Masterclasses in May at Mattioli Woods Welford Road have been confirmed!
Open to Boys and Girls from Under-12s - Under-18s, Masterclasses focus on a specific element of rugby with sessions delivered by former players alongside club coaches.
SESSIONS
- Monday, May 26 - Kicking Masterclass: Learn the correct way to execute the variety of kicks on offer as part of your attacking game and win the ‘kick battle’ – as well as the art of goal kicking.
- Tuesday, May 27 - Attack Masterclass: Looking at a variety of methods to find and manipulate space and be an effective attacking player. A chance to work on the technical skills and tactical awareness required to execute in attack.
- Wednesday, May 28 - Defence Masterclass: Get up and in the face of your opponent to apply pressure and win back possession for your team. The defence masterclass will look at the safest, most effective way to be a dominant defender as part of the defensive unit.
COACHES
- HARRY SIMMONS: Recently retired senior squad member, Simmons was known for his versatility as a scrum-half and wing. He came through the club's Academy and made 39 appearances for the club.
- TOM VARNDELL: One of the game's most prolific try-scorers, who represented the club on more than 100 occasions and crossed for 65 tries in his decorated career. Varndell was a member of the 2007 Premiership-winning squad and played for Tests for England.
- CRAIG NEWBY: A two-time Premiership winner with Leicester Tigers, Newby joined the club after representing the All Blacks and went on to make 84 appearances in green, red and white.
