Premiership Rugby is providing a number of lucky coaches the chance of a lifetime to be at the forefront of the development of the game in Brazil next year.
In partnership with the British Council and SESI, Try Rugby Brazil has been growing rugby in a country rich in sporting culture for two years in the first project of its kind in South America.
Now the scheme is offering a fantastic ten-month opportunity to travel and coach from January 2015 for individuals keen to start a career in Rugby Development.
The aim is to leave a lasting legacy through the volunteer network says Wayne Morris, Premiership Rugby community and corporate social responsibility director.
"We've got the World Cup here in England next year and we need to use that opportunity to grow the game in as many countries as possible,” he said.
"These partnerships allow us to showcase what a great sport rugby is, and also to help the young people involved as we are providing health, education and social outcomes as part of the programme.
"The uptake so far has been phenomenal – the project has supported the doubling of the playing base in Brazil since its launch.
"We're teaching people how to referee and coach tag rugby so it's sustainable as we really want to make Rugby Union a widely-played sport there in the long-term.
"We also want to impart the ethos of rugby union in Brazil; utilizing the core values of the game to support a young person's life skills, that's one of the best things about the sport.
"This is such a great opportunity for coaches to develop their skills, they get the chance to be at the forefront of the sport over there, implementing rugby into new environments and inspiring new players to take up the game.
"We're really looking for a whole range of coaches. Whether they be experienced or younger coaches looking to build up their own experience and knowledge, each shortlisted applicant will receive a comprehensive training programme from Premiership Rugby before departing for Brazil.”
Try Rugby Brazil is a community-focused project that aims to use rugby to engage with children and young people, deliver health, education and social change outcomes, as well as help to increase participation in the sport.
With the scheme just two years old, more than 14,000 participants are now playing every week in 3 different states, and more than 500 teachers and volunteer coaches now able to teach tag rugby and referee games.
Day-to-day the Try Rugby coaches will deliver rugby classes to children ranging from six to 17-years-old, both as part of their curriculum or in after school clubs.
Coach Tom Redfern arrived in Brazil 14 months ago to begin his coaching journey, and admitted he could not believe how well the children have taken to the sport.
He said: "There's no better place to start out than here in Brazil as a young rugby coach. Every day you're learning something new.
"The most notable difference I've seen is when you look out onto the playground now you will sometimes see a rugby ball getting kicked around instead of a football.
"That's a big eye-opener and shows that the project is actually working and that the kids are taking to it.
"As the project has gone on and the kids have understood the game they have gone on to rugby clubs off their own backs, so on the whole it is definitely a good response.
"It has been so satisfying seeing my first class grow from two girls and five boys, to 14 girls and 17 boys and they are playing in 7s tournaments every couple of weeks.
"To see them progress has been awesome, and they are all telling their friends and getting more people involved.”

The sessions will give you the opportunity to hear more about the project, the partners involved and be interviewed for one of the volunteer posts. If successful you will be required to attend a two day training event on the 25th & 26th November.
