At this season's festive fixture, on December 21 at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, keep an eye out for some jolly-looking bucket shakers.

Volunteers from the Teenage Cancer Trust will be at Tigers HQ to raise not just Christmas spirits but also a sackful of donations. 

Last year's Christmas clash with the Stormers saw an incredible effort from the Tigers Family, who generously raised almost £3,000 to go towards the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Ward 27. 

This area is specially designed for 13-24-year-olds and has five in-patient beds and a day-care facility. All bedrooms are equipped with comfy and cosy soft furnishings, bespoke furniture, TV, DVD and gaming facilities, while patients are provided free laptops. 

The organisation helps fund two expert staff at the unit: a Lead Nurse for the East Midlands and a Youth Support Co-ordinator. They make sure each person having treatment on the ward gets the best possible quality care and is treated as a young person first, a cancer patient second.
