Leicester Tigers Forwards Coach, Brett Deacon, has reacted to Tigers 38-17 victory over Nottingham in the club's first pre-season fixture.

Deacon said there were visible signs of improvement in Tigers performance, particularly physically with Deacon giving special mention to Head of Performance, Matt Parr

"(The coaches) thought it was good, particularly the first-half in terms of our execution, but overall very pleased," Deacon said.

"We looked fit, we looked really powerful at times and credit there to Parry he's got the boys really bought into what we're doing with our strength and conditioning programme.

"Of course there are areas we need to review and we'll always focus on how we can get better."

Michael Cheika received a warm welcome from the Mattioli Woods Welford Road faithful in what was his first game in charge of the team.

Deacon believes Cheika's imprint is already beginning to show.

"I've enjoyed working with him, of course and he's obviously a world-class operator," he said.

"From day one he's been clear about his expectations of effort and he wants everything to be a contest, and you could see the players progression in those areas at times tonight."
