Game Plan | Test rugby in Tigers Town

Saturday sees International rugby back at Mattioli Woods Welford for the first time since 2022 as the Red Roses return to Leicester.

The clash three years ago saw 15'000 supporters file into Mattioli Woods Welford Road as England swept to victory against Ireland 69 - 0.

This weekend, Scotland will take on the Roses as Tigers battle Tigers.

Travelling to Mattioli Woods Welford Road for the first time?

Train

If you’re getting the train into Leicester, the stadium is no more than a fifteen-minute walk directly from Leicester Station – just walk straight down Tigers Way (adjacent to the A594) and cross Nelson Mandela Park to arrive at the stadium.

Leicester Station has direct trains from around the country, including from London’s Kings Cross St. Pancras Station, Birmingham International, Sheffield, Cambridge and more, whilst those travelling from further afield like Bristol or Manchester will only have to make one line change on your way into Leicester.

Car

For those choosing to drive, there are a wide range of affordable parking options available well within walking distance of the ground.

Matchday parking spaces are available at:

  • Bede House Car Park (LE2 7EJ) - £12. This car park is a 14 minute walk away from Mattioli Woods Welford Road and opens 2.5 hours prior to kick-off. A FREE shuttle bus will be available on the day to and from the stadium, operating every 15 minutes (approx).
  • British Gas site (LE2 7QJ) - £14. A FREE mini-shuttle bus will be available on the day to and from the stadium, operating every 15 minutes (approx).
  • King Power Stadium, Leicester City (LE2 7FL) - £14. This car park is a 10 minute walk away from Mattioli Woods Welford Road and opens 2 hours prior to kick off & open until 2 hours after full time whistle. A FREE shuttle bus will be available on the day to and from the stadium, operating every 15 minutes (approx).
  • Motorbike Parking in Crumbie Car Park - £2.50 - This will be on a first-come first-serve basis on the day (not available to pre-book).

Please note:

  • Car parking must be booked in advance
  • Leicester Tigers supporters with seasonal parking passes will be unable to use these for this fixture as it is not a club fixture

Food & Drink options

Outside the ground

On Johno’s Plaza adjacent to the Tradeview Markets stan, there will be an array of catering vans offering all manner of hot food and snacks, from burgers and fries to currywurst and much more.

There’s also Jenno’s Coffee House located on the corner who can offer a variety of café goods as well as pastries, cakes and more.

Inside the ground

Catering partner Levy provide a variety of hot and cold options for spectators for you to take to your seat and watch the game.

Food wise you have sausage rolls, hot dogs, fries or a classic Leicester Pukka Pie (available with Steak, Balti or Vegetarian offerings), as well as sweets and chocolates. There are also a number of independent catering outlets within the ground, offering burgers and filled naans amongst other options.

If you’re feeling thirsty there are your classic soft drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, Bovril and alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages.
