International Round-Up | Jones stars in Red Roses win

Meg Jones was one of six Red Roses players to cross for tries in England's 44-point, 5-49, victory over Ireland on Saturday afternoon in Cork.

The Leicester Tigers centre was joined by Morwenna Talling, Zoe Harrison, Ellie Kildunne, Kelsey Clifford, and Sarah Bern, with the latter getting over for a double. Harrison also added 12 points from the kicking tee, while Holly Aitchison contributed with two goals of her own.

Despite the dominant final result, England trailed 5-0 until the 35th minute when Talling scored to level the scores before Harrison converted to see them lead by just two points at half-time.

However, it was all England in the second half with 42 unanswered points, including the 52nd score for Jones after the Tigers centre put Kildunne into space near halfway and then finished the exciting attacking phase off to get over the chalk.

The Red Roses sit atop the table heading into the penultimate round of fixtures, with a bonus point the difference between them and France, who are the only other unbeaten side.

France registered a 42-14 win over Wales in Round 3 and take on Italy in Round 4, while England host Scotland at Mattioli Woods Welford Road next Saturday (April 19) before the two powerhouses meet in the final round.

Scotland, featuring Tigers duo Franceca McGhie and Leah Bartlett, were defeated 17-25 by Italy on Sunday.

A late fightback from the Scots, including a try to McGhie, wasn't enough for the home side, which means they remain on just one win from three outings and sit in fourth place ahead of taking on the Red Roses in Leicester.
