International Recap: Canada claim Pacific Four Series with victory over Black Ferns

Five Leicester Tigers players were involved as the the Pacific Four series came to a close last weekend.

The final weekend saw Canada claim a famous victory in Christchurch, defeating New Zealand for the first time in their history to claim the title.

After prior victories over the USA and the Wallaroos of Australia, the Canadian team came into the match full of confidence and secured a historic win 22 - 19.

Claire Gallagher started the match at fly half, as she had done for the previous two matches in the tournament and pulled the strings throughout.

Lock Julia Omokhuale was amongst the replacements in this match and had earlier featured off the bench in the opening round against the USA, scoring a spectacular try.

Three Tigers were also involved in the USA's final round matchup, as they defeated Australia by 32 - 25.

Tess Feury started the match at fullback and played the full 80 minutes, while prop Keia Mae Sagapolu Sanele entered in the second half as the Eagles came from behind to claim victory in Melbourne.

No. 8 Tahlia Brody was not involved in the final round victory but had previously started the opening round against Canada and came off the bench against the Black Ferns a week later.

All five Tigers will return to the club today as part of preperations for this Saturday's final home game of the season, against Sale Sharks.
