Last chance to vote for Lumbers Player of the Month

Figure image

Voting closes at midnight tonight (Thursday) in the poll to find the latest Lumbers Player of the Month.

Sione Kalamafoni, Graham Kitchener and Matt Toomua have been named on a three-man shortlist for the March award and supporters can vote for their favourite now on the Lumbers website by using the link below.

Back-rower Kalamafoni is consistently a leading ball-carrier and tackler in the Tigers team, playing his part in a successful forward pack in the win at Worcester – where he made 25 carries – and then grabbing his first try for the club in the win over Wasps at Welford Road.

Second-rower Kitchener has been a model of consistency in the lineout as the Tigers forward pack impressed during a run of successive victories. His eight lineout wins established a platform for the attack at Warriors, where he also made a steal of opposition ball, and he is now fourth overall in lineout takes during the Aviva Premiership season.

Toomua has been nominated for a second successive month, steering the team from fly-half in the win at Worcester and reverting to centre for the must-win clash with Wasps where his tryline tackle on Thomas Young saved a certain score and another last-ditch tackle on Willie Le Roux proved vital in a 16-15 victory.

Supported by High Street jewellers Lumbers and voted for by Tigers supporters, the Player of the Month award recognises the contribution of individual players to the team cause throughout the campaign.

Established in 1881, Lumbers jewellers have been at the heart of Leicester for more than 135 years – just like the Tigers – and are the sponsors of the club’s monthly award.

The Lumbers team offers unparalleled service and knowledge for clients at their premises in High Street, Leicester, with an extensive range of services including jewellery and watch repairs, valuations and engraving.

Preview | Tigers v Munster

As the Guinness Six Nations draws to an end for another year, Leicester Tigers take on Munster Rugby at Mattioli Woods Welford Road looking to get their engine warm for the return of the race that is the Gallagher Premiership run-in.

The history between the two sides is written in folklore, the respect is mutual, and with the likes of Handré Pollard and Julián Montoya in Tigers ranks, it's hard to describe this fixture as a friendly.
