The Leicester Tigers squad must not fall into ‘old habits’ against Sale Sharks, says Hanro Liebenberg.
The 24-year-old made his long-awaited return from injury in the win over Wasps last weekend, and retains a place in the Tigers back row for the trip to Sale Sharks on Friday evening.
And while last week’s Round 10 win showed signs of a tough Tigers team built around a strong pack performance, Liebenberg echoed head coach Geordan Murphy in insisting the team must not let standards drop away from home.
“The main thing for us is momentum,” he said. “We can’t be on a high from last week and then in our next game go back to old habits.
“We need momentum, and if that’s dominating through the forwards, then that’s what we have to do.”
“Doing that [up front] has been a long time coming. It’s something that we pride ourselves on and something that we want to do even more, and last weekend was just a small taste of it.”
Cape Town-born Liebenberg will come up against some familiar faces at the AJ Bell Stadium, too, with a sprinkling of Springbok stars in the matchday squad to face the Tigers.
“I’ve played with Jean-Luc and Dan du Preez at South Africa U20s, so I know their characteristics,” he continued.
“I know they’ll be up for it and it’ll be a good battle against the other South Africans, but most importantly it’s a team effort.
“While it’s obviously good playing against those guys, as a pack we need to front up and put in another strong performance.”
