Leicester Tigers are excited to announce the relaunch of Hitz in the city and also a new course based at Stephenson’s College focusing on Employability.
The Leicester Tigers Foundation has had an incredibly challenging 18 months but have used the time in lockdown to plan a strengthened provision and offers, working closely with our education providers and partners to bring two diverse opportunities to young people in the county.
HITZ – Leicester Tigers
Starting in September 2021 from the heart of the Leicester Tigers stadium at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, Hitz Leicester offers 16-19 year-olds who are not in education, employment or training, the opportunity to take the next steps to support their progression and develop social and employability skills.
Also, 19-plus places are available on an individual basis.
HITZ provides learners with the platform to gain accredited Maths and English qualifications and a BTEC Sport and Active Leisure Level 1 qualification, based in our Tigers Education Centre and supported by the CSL.
The programme has sport and physical activity at its heart and aims to increase resilience, self-confidence and aspiration for young people to progress on to further education, training or employment.
Our Hitz Leicester course if primarily a full-year study programme, but we will be offering additional places at the turn of the year, for short course options.
SMB-HITZ – Jump into Employment
Brand new this year, we are also very excited to launch the new SMB HITZ programme, centred around increasing the employability of young people not in education, training or employment.
Based at the impressive Stephenson’s College (Coalville), learners will gain accredited Maths and English qualifications and a BTEC Work Skills Level 2 Certificate, alongside blocks of work experience placements, sport and physical activity, and bespoke personal development sessions.
This course will be centred around life in work, embedded in the culture and values of the Leicester Tigers Foundation.
SMB-HITZ Jump into Employment is aimed at learners aged 16-19 years, although places for 19-plus will be considered on an individual basis.
There will be two cohorts across the year, running from September 2021 to February 2022 and then February to June 2022.
