Former Leicester Tigers Board Member David Abell has died.

He served on the club's board for more than two decades after joining in 1999. 

During a distinguished professional career, David was Chairman of Jourdan plc, Chairman and Chief Executive of Suter plc and a Director of British Leyland Limited. 

A long-time supporter of Tigers before joining the board, he continued to support the club after retiring from his role as a non-executive director in 2020.

David is survived by wife Juliana and children Simon, Jonathan, Martin, Chris and Kate.

Speaking about his father, Simon described his father as "a committed and passionate Leicester Tigers supporter, who attended most home games when he was able to do so and, simply, loved the club."
