Leicester Tigers welcomed former players from across the generations for a Past Players Dinner at Welford Road on Saturday.
A group of more than 40 past players attended the function in the Honours Suite in the Holland & Barrett Stand, enjoying lunch before watching the Tigers victory over Gloucester in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
The guest list included John McCormack, representing the Tigers ranks of the mid-1950s; former Scotland and British Lions full-back Rodger Arneil; and former scrum-half John Allen who sits third on the club’s all-time appearance list.
Barry Evans, Bleddyn Jones, John Duggan, Garry Adey, Bob Rowell, Jez Krych, Tim Barnwell, Harry Roberts, Bill Drake-Lee, Kevin Andrews, Bob Rowell, Steve Johnson, David and Richard Berry, Ray Needham, Angus Collington, Mike Mortimer, Arthur Hazelrigg and Tom Smith were among the past players in attendance.
Steve Kenney, a cup-winning scrum-half in 365 first-team appearances for the club and now involved with the Past Players Association, said: “It’s great, the groups on each table were all across the ages and they all have that one thing in common of knowing what it means to wear the Leicester Tigers shirt.”
