Leicester Tigers head coach, Dan McKellar has reacted to the club’s remarkable 27-24 victory against Stade Francais in round two of the Investec Champions Cup.
McKellar praised his side’s fight, saying the squad displayed the qualities the club has built its DNA on.
“It was a Leicester Tigers performance, full of fight and commitment to your mate beside you. That’s what the club’s always been built on,” McKellar said.
“We came here with a plan and belief that we could win if we stuck to it, and we did that.”
A second win in Europe on the bounce leaves Tigers in a strong position heading into the new year, with Tigers looking forward to two Premiership games before 2024, including an exciting fixture against Bath at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
Described as a ‘famous’ Leicester win by media and fans alike, McKellar said winning on the road made the victory that much sweeter.
“It’s a game I will remember for as long as I live,” McKellar explained.
“Winning in that fashion, away from home in tough place to come it’s special.
“These are the memories you take with you and we’re building momentum now. Exeter away will be a big game and then a massive fixture at home against Bath.”
Leicester travel to Exeter in their return to Gallagher Premiership action next weekend before hosting Bath Rugby on New Year's Eve in the first of back-to-back games at Mattioli Woods Welford Road ahead of a January 6 Double Header against London when the men's side take on Saracens and women's squad host Harlequins.
