Leicester Tigers coach Peter Hewat has reacted to Tigers 68-26 win against Coventry in the Premiership Cup.

Tigers will have to wait for other results to determine quarter final qualification but do finish this ‘block’ of Cup fixtures on a high after notching 50 points in three successive games for the first time in the club’s history.

“I thought we were very good today,” Hewat said.

“We’ve been pushing the young guys, the guys that led us this block to push each other and the team forward and I thought they really did that, right to the final whistle.

“We spoke at the start of this block around taking opportunities, for the boys individually and collectively putting the team in a good place going into the next block.

“We will wait and see what comes as far as qualification goes but for the most part, we delivered on our objectives for this block and I’m proud of the boys today.”

Tigers ran in nine tries in the contest, but Hewat was adamant the forwards deserved a huge share of the credit for the win.

“We scored some nice tries, and happy with our endeavour to attack but I have to give the boys up front a massive rap for their performance,” he explained.

“They were nasty today. Physical for the full 80, and they got us on the front foot, and when that happens, we have great players who can exploit space and again, we did that well today. “
