England international Ellie Kildunne enjoyed a preview of what to expect at Mattioli Woods Welford Road when the Red Roses run out for the Women’s Six Nations fixture against Ireland in April.
A centre or full-back who gained a first England cap in 2017 and won Six Nations titles in 2020 and 2021, Harlequins player Kildunne was part of the crowd at Saturday’s match between Leicester Tigers and Gloucester, and is keen to make a return in national colours.
Speaking on the pitch at half-time, Kildunne said: “We’re into camp with the England squad this week, there’s a lot of hard work to be done and hopefully we can go into the Six Nations with momentum.”
England face Ireland at the home of the Tigers in a noon kick-off on Sunday, April 24, in only the second women’s fixture staged at the club’s iconic stadium.
“There’s an amazing atmosphere here,” Kildunne said. “I’ve been sitting the stands in the first half and you can feel the sound really travels.
“The whole squad will be really looking forward to getting on the pitch here.”
