Leicester Tigers have agreed a new deal with versatile back Guy Porter.

The 25-year-old has made 32 senior appearances for the club since debuting in 2020 after joining Tigers from Australian Super Rugby side, ACT Brumbies.

"I want to be a part of a group that is working towards something, working hard and looking to be successful, which is what this team is about"

Porter has featured throughout the backline during his time in Leicester and scored eight tries, including six in the current campaign.

Discussing his decision to extend his time at the club, Porter said: “I am really enjoying my rugby at Leicester Tigers, I feel like I am growing and learning as a player every day and I am enjoying the experience of living in Leicestershire.

“I want to be a part of a group that is working towards something, working hard and looking to be successful, which is what this team is about.”

Porter also talked team-mates, learning from Steve Borthwick and his coaching team, as well as Leicester supporters.

“It is a competitive environment, where there is no comfort for anybody in any position,” said Porter.

“I am enjoying that competitiveness, working with guys who push you more and there is a clear idea of how we want to go about things, what is expected of us in what we are trying to do as a team.

“Everyone is pushing forward as individuals but all together as one too, to move the team forwards.

“Steve is a coach you want to play for and the coaching team is filled with high-quality coaches and people you can learn from.

“You want to be surrounded by people who are the best in their field, who work hard and are leaders, of which we have in the coaches here at Tigers.

“The difference having crowds in the stadium with us is like night and day, it makes such a big difference and makes it incredibly exciting out there.

“Tigers fans are incredibly passionate and I feel like I am only just starting to get my head around that, it is just great to be a part of a club like this with supporters like we have in Leicester.”

Speaking about Porter, Leicester Tigers Head Coach Steve Borthwick said: “Guy has been a really important part of the journey this group is on since arriving at Leicester Tigers.

“His versatility is extremely valuable but it is the incredible effort he puts in every time he walks on to the field, training or game day, that deserves enormous respect.

“Most pleasing, there is still such an enormous potential for growth in Guy.”
