Leicester Tigers have fallen to Bristol Bears, 54-24 at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in round eight of the Gallagher Premiership.
A first-half blitz from Bristol sunk Tigers, Josh Bassett’s try in the final minute mean Tigers take a bonus-point from a disappointing game for Tigers.
Leicester struck first, Ollie Hassell-Collins finding the line after some slick work from Handré Pollard and Freddie Steward.
Tigers lead wouldn’t last long however, as Bears worked a good try of their own, with flyhalf AJ MacGinty kicking the conversion.
Bristol hooker would then grab his second try to extend Bears lead, with MacGinty making it 14-5.
Hassell-Collins then grabbed his double. Bears went hunting for more off the kick-off from Oghre’s try but put the ball on the floor. Cameron Henderson reacted first, found Solomone Kata and his offload was perfect for Leicester’s wing.
A chaotic first 20 got its exclamation point next however, Bears getting their third try through Kalaveti Ravouvou which MacGinty converted.
Bears got a fourth through Viliame Mata in the 30th minute, replacement Sam Worsley converting after MacGinty was forced off through injury.
Tigers were fighting to claw a try back before the break, but a knock-on in Bears in-goal area gave the visitors a chance to counter-attack, and fullback Rich Lane would end up running in a fifth for the visitors before the break.
Tigers got the first try after half-time, Steward the one to touch down, and although Tigers had the better of the running, Bristol’s attack was in special form, and Bears would add two more tries to their tally.
Benhard Janse van Rensburg got the first, and Ravouvou ran away for the second and Bristol were now 54-19 in the clear.
Josh Bassett grabbed a late try for Tigers, which did give Leicester a bonus-point but it would finish 54-24.
