Welford Road is gearing up to host the Leicester Music Festival in July 2014 with several acts and ticket details already confirmed.

Urban pop sensation Professor Green is the first headline act to be announced on the line-up for the two-day event staged over July 25 and 26 next summer.

Manoj Keshavji, one of the Leicestershire businessmen putting the event together, said: “We are more than over the moon that Professor Green will be performing and he is just a taste of what is to come.

“People will be amazed with who we have. Leicester has never seen anything like this – this is unique.”

Music legends Billy Ocean and Soul II Soul are also now confirmed for the bill and another big headline act will be confirmed soon.

The festival crowd of up to 22,000 will be accommodated in the stands and the pitch at the home of the Tigers with eight acts expected on the bill each day.

Performances will start at noon on both days and finish at 10.30pm.

There are hopes that if this event is a success, then the Leicester Music Festival could become an annual event.

There will be 2,000 early bird tickets for each day which will be on sale from 9am on November 25 until December 31.

These tickets will cost £37.50 per day and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

After the initial early bird period, ticket prices will start at £45.

Tickets will be available to buy from Ticketfactory.com
