Tigers enjoy unbeaten weekend with last-minute victory over Saints

Figure image

Tigers Wheelchair Rugby development team rocketed to the top of the Midlands Development league, winning three hard-fought games to mirror their Fours Premiership counterparts and stay unbeaten thus far.

The team showed real resilience across all three matches together, falling behind in each one yet fighting to come back and clinch victory. Tigers showed that sometimes it’s about grinding out a result even when you're not playing your best and demonstrated real character, something to be proud of for a new team with new players.

Team members Hayley Cassin, Carl Sanger, Jono Whitehead and Ben Wilson all made their Tigers debuts at the weekend, showcasing grit and determination in securing a clean sweep of victories. You can see the full team sheet below.

The results from the weekend were as follows:

  • Coventry Stampede 15-22 Leicester Tigers
  • Norfolk Knights 14-19 Leicester Tigers
  • Leicester Tigers 15-14 Northampton Saints

The victory against Northampton Saints was, as ever, the big highlight of the weekend, a last second goal confirming the narrowest of wins and bragging rights for the Tigers once again. You can see the full league table after the first round of fixtures, below.

Finally, a massive congratulations to debutant Hayley Cassin who was voted the Tigers WR5s Development League Player of Round One!
