Launched in 2006, Warning Zone is the flagship project of Leicestershire & Rutland Crimebeat and the adopted charity of the High Sheriffs during their year in office.
Warning Zone is an independent life-skills education centre that is unique in the East Midlands region and provides an outstanding and relevant educational resource, teaching vital life-skills to Year 6 pupils (age 10/11 years) and other vulnerable or relevant groups.
This safe and interactive experience equips youngsters to understand risk and safe decision-making, preparing them for transition to secondary education and adolescence in a way that is not possible in the classroom. This is not wrapping children in cotton wool, rather presenting the plain and honest facts in a memorable and understandable way in order to encourage responsible behaviour and safe decision-making at a time of greater independence.
In the past four years Warning Zone has worked with 18,500 children from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and is now raising funds to complete the refurbishment of its new premises on Frog Island in Leicester. Warning Zone will reopen in 2011.
The Tigers Cashback programme allows groups, schools, charities and sporting organisations to enjoy a big match at Welford Road while at the same time boosting their own funds with a cashback donation. For details, contact the Tigers ticket office by calling 0844 856 1880.
