The Leicester Tigers Women team has been named for their return to action at Mattioli Woods Welford Road this Saturday, with Sale Sharks providing the opposition.
Established in 2018, Sale Sharks Women are in their second season in the top-flight Allianz Premier 15s and will send a Development XV to Tigers this weekend.
Vicky Macqueen, head of the Tigers’ women’s rugby programme, said: “Every game we play and every training session that the girls have together are important steps in our development and in the journey towards having a Tigers Women’s team within the league structure.
“Everyone is looking forward to this game on Saturday and the opportunity to represent the Leicester Tigers at one of rugby’s great stadiums.
“These fixtures and the formation of the team are also vitally important in inspiring the players of the future in the women’s game and we hope young players and their families can come and support us.”
Kick-off is at 12.30pm on Saturday with entry via cash donation to the Tigers women’s and girls’ programme. All supporters will be accommodated in the North Stand at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, food and refreshments will be available.
