Leicester Tigers club mascot Welford joined other mascots including Hot Spot from the Leicester Riders and Leicester City’s Filbert Fox to mark the start of the new Move it Boom initiative.

Move it Boom takes the excitement and fun generated by playing computer games to encourage primary school pupils to be more physically active across Leicestershire.

The mascots took part in a special launch race starting at the Town Hall in Leicester city centre and involved playing a ‘new game’ created by schools taking part.

Pupils from Birkett House Community Special School in Wigston created a jigsaw game for Welford and Hot Spot to complete as well as a 300m sprint from Braunstone Leisure centre – which Welford won!

The school with the winning game received new playground equipment donated by outdoor playground specialist Red Monkey.
