Welford Road welcomed businesswomen from across Leicestershire and the East Midlands region last night to celebrate the Leicester Mercury Women in Business Awards 2017.
As one of the region’s largest venues of its kind, Welford Road was transformed for the evening as ITV’s Emma Jesson hosted the annual event.
Guests enjoyed entertainment and a three-course meal before the winners in each category were announced.
Mehmooda Duke, founder and a senior partner of Moosa-Duke Solicitors, who specialises in medical clinical negligence was acclaimed Business Woman of the Year, while Julie Deane was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Julie started her business, Cambridge Satchel Company, with just £600 in her pocket and her kitchen table to work from and the company now produces around more than 11,000 bags a month.
