Youngs and Salvi, who have also been nominated for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Season Award, are joined on the shortlist by Christian Wade and Joe Launchbury of London Wasps, Saracens prop Mako Vunipola and Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care.
Wade, Launchbury and Vunipola could complete a unique double after also being nonminated for the LV= Young Player of the Year award.
The winners will be announced at The RPA Computacenter Players’ Awards at Battersea Evolution, London on May 22.
Salvi, who was this week named as Tigers Supporters’ Player of the Year, said: “It’s very humbling to be nominated by the players you play against every week.
“As well as playing for enjoyment you always want to earn the respect of the players you go up against and it’s the absolute pinnacle to be recognised in this way by your peers.
“It’s been a fantastic career move for me joining Leicester Tigers and I’m loving my rugby here which is hopefully showing through in some of my performances, so a massive thanks must go to the Tigers and my team-mates.”
Youngs, this season’s Players’ Player of the Year at Leicester, said: “It’s a great honour to be nominated for the Computacenter Players’ Player of the Year Award. To know some players you have battled against week in week out have voted for you is very special.
“It’s been an absolute dream season for me and I’d like to thank Richard Cockerill and the Tigers coaches for taking the risk on me and most importantly sticking with me and supporting me when I was making mistakes early in my switch to hooker!
“I learnt so much during that time and to know you have coaches and team mates who will stick by you during the hard times makes such a difference to a player’s confidence and performance.”
Three Tigers players have previously won the RPA award, with Thomas Waldrom picking up the top prize two years ago, following in the footsteps of Martin Corry in 2005 and Neil Back in 1999.
