Leicester Tigers fly-half Handré Pollard has been called into the South Africa squad for the remainder of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The 29-year-old has made 65 appearances for the Springboks since his debut in 2014 and was part of the squad during the summer but overlooked for the initial World Cup touring party.
Pollard made his first appearance of the 23/24 campaign in Friday night's Premiership Rugby Cup win, away to Sale, which included a hand in two tries and vital touchline conversion in just 30 minutes on the field.
Speaking about Pollard's call up, Leicester Tigers Head Coach Dan McKellar said: "We are so pleased for Handré and so excited that he will join Jasper Wiese in the Springboks squad, as well as all those players of ours in France at the World Cup."
"When the news got around our group the response was incredible; his team-mates have loved having him here for the past month but we are also pleased he is where he belongs - on the world stage.
"He is a world class player and deserves to be playing at the World Cup. We take great pride in seeing all of our players representing Leicester Tigers in Test rugby."
