Headmaster Gary Toward defied the odds, and the weather, to climb to a summit of 4100m at the Gran Paradiso (the highest mountain in Italy) in aid of the Matt Hampson Trust.
The Head of South Wigston High School proudly displayed a Tigers flag on arrival at his destination, with adverse weather conditions forcing him and his team-mates to divert from their original summit of Mount Blanc.
Gary overcame his fear of heights in spectacular fashion as he seeks to raise funds for Matt's trust.
If you'd like to sponsor Gary, you can do so by emailing [email protected], or by sending a cheque made out G Toward to Leicester Tigers Football Club Plc, Aylestone Road, Leicester, LE2 7TR.
Having now returned from his climb, Gary also intends to raise money via his literary talents. The former Milton Keynes centre has written a thriller based on his experiences of working in schools and has promised to donate the first six months of the proceeds from his new novel to Matt's trust.
